Community Economic Advancement Initiatives broke ground for the new Bond Hill Market at 1239 California in Cincinnati’s Bond Hill neighborhood.  The market will serve as a much-needed oasis in the area offering fresh fruits and vegetables, groceries, fresh meats, and more. Hot meals will be available and prepared by culinary arts students taught by Chef Anthony.


Bond Hill has been identified as a food desert due to the lack of quality fresh food choices available to neighborhood residents.

“We plan to eradicate the food desert in Bond Hill” says CEAI President Eugene Ellington. “The market will offer healthy food alternatives to residents. There will also be a Market Plate bistro Internet café with free wi-fi featuring chef-created entrees and seasonal sides.”

The market will feature a full-service meat counter, a specialty department carrying a wide selection of cheeses, and more.

Vice Mayor Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney and members of the City Council attended the groundbreaking ceremonies in addition to many other local luminaries.
